Performance Cycles

Map Performance Ratings to Performance Groups

Sterling avatar
Shared by Sterling • July 07, 2026

We've made it easier to analyse and benchmark performance data across your organisation. Performance Admins can now map each performance rating choice in their cycle to one of four standardised performance groups, without changing the rating labels or scale that employees and managers already see. Whether you use a 3-point or 5-point scale, your existing setup stays exactly as it is; this mapping simply adds a standardised layer that unlocks richer reporting.

What's new:

  • Standardised performance groups: Map your rating choices to four fixed groups: High performing, Performing, Low performing, and Not rated.
  • Your scale, unchanged: Mapping is an admin-only configuration step and has no impact on what reviewers or employees see.
  • Flexible setup: Configure mapping during the Reporting step when building a cycle, and update it at any time, even after a cycle is live or closed.
  • Richer exports: Performance group data is available in admin calibration views, the Manager Review export, and the Calibrations export.
Goals

Cascading Goals Now Support Custom Weighting

Sterling avatar
Shared by Sterling • June 30, 2026

You can now assign percentage weights to supporting goals in a cascading goal, so primary goal progress reflects the relative importance of each contributing goal rather than a flat average. Weighted progress gives leaders a more accurate picture of execution against strategy.

What's new

  • Manual weighting: Assign custom percentage weights to each supporting goal, so higher-priority initiatives have a proportionally greater impact on primary goal progress.
  • Two distribution modes: Goals default to equal distribution, where all supporting goals contribute equally, and weights auto-rebalance when goals are added or removed. Switch to manual weighting when you need more control.
  • Reset in one click: Switch back to equal distribution at any time if needed.
  • Flexible access: Account Admins and users with Goals Full Permissions can enable weighted supporting goals in Settings > Goals > Goal Configuration. Once enabled, goal owners can adjust weights on their own goals.

AI Coach is Now Available in Development Plans

Sterling avatar
Shared by Sterling • June 30, 2026

AI Coach is now built into the Develop module, giving employees an AI-powered assistant to help them create and refine their development plans. Available throughout the planning process, Coach provides personalised guidance on focus areas, goal-setting, and plan structure, based on the details in your development plan.

What's new

  • Coach in your development plan: Coach will automatically open while working on a development plan. It opens as a side panel with suggested prompts to get you started.
  • Contextual prompts: As you move through different steps of your plan, Coach surfaces Ask Coach banners with prompts tailored to the page you're on.
  • Personalised to your plan: Coach draws on your development plan details by default. You can also prompt it to reference your performance review, feedback, and Shoutout data for more specific guidance.
  • Private to you: Only you can see your Coach conversations. Managers and admins have no access to your history.

Performance Rating Filters Now Available in Shared Reports

Sterling avatar
Shared by Sterling • June 30, 2026

You can now include performance rating filters in filtered (shared) survey reports, not just admin reports. This allows the option for managers and leaders to see how engagement varies across performance groups, making it easier to spot trends, support at-risk employees, and have more informed retention conversations.

What's new:

  • Share performance insights with managers and leaders: Performance rating data was previously only visible in admin reports. It can now be surfaced in filtered reports shared with report viewers.
  • Admins stay in control: Admins choose which performance cycles are linked to a survey and which reports include the filter, keeping sensitive data protected.
  • Two steps to set up: Link an eligible performance cycle to your survey via the Demographics page, then enable additional filtering when building your filtered report and select the relevant cycle.
  • Protected by your existing confidentiality settings: The performance rating filter respects your reporting group minimums and is excluded from Raw Data Extract and Participant exports.

AI Coach in Performance - Now Available for Self-Reflections

Sterling avatar
Shared by Sterling • June 29, 2026

Employees completing a self-reflection in a Performance Review cycle can now access AI Coach directly on that page. This extends AI Coach in Performance beyond the manager review experience, so employees can get coaching support right where they're working without switching to General Coach or copy-pasting across tabs.

What's new:

  • Coach is available as a sidebar while employees draft their self-reflection.
  • Helps employees identify themes from their feedback, articulate their impact, and frame challenges they've faced.
  • Only draws on data already visible to the employee: previous self-reflections, Anytime Feedback, shared manager review questions, and Shoutouts.

Shared by Sterling • June 17, 2026

You can now speak directly to AI Coach instead of typing. Voice Mode makes interacting with Coach feel more natural and immediate, giving you the flexibility to think out loud, workshop how to deliver feedback, or practice for difficult conversations without the friction of typing.

What's new:

  • Two ways to speak: Use Dictation mode (voice-to-text) across all Coach modules to quickly speak your prompts, or use Conversation mode (Talk with coach) in General Coach only, for a natural, free-flowing spoken dialogue.
  • Seamless interactions: In Conversation mode, you can hear Coach's response as streaming audio alongside synchronized text. You can even interrupt Coach mid-response to keep the conversation flowing naturally.
  • Perfect for role-play: Voice Mode makes General Coach the ideal partner for role-playing scenarios, allowing you to easily practice a 1:1 or performance review conversation before it happens.
  • Strict audio privacy: Your audio data remains entirely secure and private. No audio recordings are ever stored, retained, or used for training purposes.
Anytime Feedback

Shared by Sterling • June 09, 2026

Performance Admins can now track manager-requested feedback activity directly in the Anytime Feedback report, with easier visibility into usage and direct access to the feedback itself.

What's New:

  • A new table in Anytime Feedback Admin Reporting shows when managers have requested feedback for their direct reports.
  • Admins can see how often manager-requested feedback is being used and whether employees are responding.
  • Admins can open the feedback directly from the report, without needing to export data or search for individuals in Employee Profile.

Surveys

Get Deeper Feedback with Rating Question Branching

Jessie avatar
Shared by Jessie • June 09, 2026

You can now trigger targeted follow-up questions based on the specific rating an employee selects in a survey. This closes a major feedback gap, allowing you to automatically display conditional questions the exact moment a specific score is given.

What’s New:

  • "Show" Rules Only: Set specific conditional logic to reveal follow-up questions based on selected rating values.
  • Opt-In Per Question: Choose exactly which rating questions utilize branching logic within your survey setup.
  • Engage Availability: This feature is available natively for all customers with access to the new survey designer on Engagement plans.
  • Gradual Rollout: We are rolling this out starting June 9, expanding to all customers over the course of a week.

Surveys

Build Surveys More Simply with the New Survey Designer

Jessie avatar
Shared by Jessie • June 09, 2026

We’ve given the survey designer a fresh update. Instead of jumping between tabs, you now get a simple, two-panel layout where you can build your survey on the left and see exactly what it will look like for employees on the right.

What’s New:

  • Two-Panel Layout with Live Preview: Edit your configurations on the left and see exactly what participants will see in real-time on the right.
  • Engage & Lifecycle Focus: Enjoy full functional parity across Engage and Lifecycle surveys (Effectiveness surveys remain unchanged).
  • Non-Disruptive Switch: The new UI appears when you next enter the survey configuration area.
  • Phased Release: Rollout begins June 9 and will expand gradually, reaching 100% of customers within a week.
